As I had some time last evening, I spent part of it trying to translate the section 42 of Die Schere. Ernst Juenger - Die Schere - 42 Ungewöhnlich, doch nicht selten ist die telepathische Wahrnehmung dereigenen Person Sie wird, wie jeder Einblick in das Numinose, von denBetroffenen gern verschwiegen - "derartiges dürfte eigentlich nicht vorkommen". Auch der Autor wagt sich nur behutsam dahin vor. Eine Scheu vor der Profanierungdürfte mitspielen. Bei der Selbstbegegnung sieht die Person sich aus einiger Entfernung und momentan. Daher fehlt die Handlung; das unterscheidet diese Vision vom Zweiten Gesicht. Wenn Anna Karenina die Umstände ihres Todes mehr oderminder deutlich wie durch eine Nebelwand voraussieht, so ist das eher eine prophetische Ahnung - im Augenblick der Vernichtung wird sie durch Selbstbegegnung Realität. Tolstoi dringt hier bis an die Zeitgrenze vor, ja blickt, wie auch im"Tod des Iwan Illjitsch", über sie hinweg. Der russischen Dichtung wurde um die Jahrhundertwende aus orthodoxen Klöstern noch ein Abschiedsgeschenk für die Kommenden gereicht… Wegzehrung für eine Durststrecke. Es gibt Abschnitte, in denen die Literatur vikariiert. Je weniger der Autor sich darauf einläßt, desto besser für ihn und das Werk. Sonst wird er zum Hilfsprediger. Translation : Unusual but not rare is the telepathic perception of oneself own person. As every insight into the numinous, it is willingly killed by the one who is its object – « this kind of things should not really happen. » Even the author will caustiously risks to venture there. The fear for profanation may have a to play a game there. In the self-encountering, the person is seeing herself in some distance and momentarily. Therefore the action is missing ; and this distinguish this vision from the second sight. When Anna Karenina anticipate more or less clearly the circumstances of her own death, as through a mist, it is rather a prophetic presentiment – at the moment of annihilation, it is becoming reality in the encounter with herself. Tolstoï has access here to the limit of time, he is even watching beyond it, as in The Death of Ivan Illitch. At the turning point of the century, orthodox monasteries were still offering a farewell gift to the Russian poetry for the generation to come… a viaticum for thirsty times. There are some period of time where literature fills the office of vicar. Then, the less the author let himself go, the biggest is the profit for himself and for his work.
