"Das Lichtbild zieht ihn aus Staub und Asche heran". I disagree with Gary here, 
belieiving that by "Lichtbild" EJ means here a photo or a movie. A few lines 
earlier he has pointed out that that a videophone would intensify the presence of 
the distant partner. Similiarly, another technical device like a photograph can 
help conjure up a person who is even farther away.
