I for one am of the opinion that the photography books for which = J=FCnger wrote the introductions are some of his most interesting works from the = 20s, especially if you then consider those articles in the journalism and in = Der Arbeiter which refer to photography. One of the most fascinating is "Die ver=E4nderte Welt" on the nature of = the modern world. It makes the most sense when read together with "Der Arbeiter". All the talk of Gestalt and Typus, etc, in "Der Arbeiter" = becomes a lot more concrete when juxtaposed with the photography of "Die = ver=E4nderte Welt".=20 "Das Antlitz des Weltkrieges" is likewise a fascinating = photo-documentary with some truly dramatic pictures which are not to be found in your = average First World War history book. A few photos are J=FCnger's - a couple = are to be found in the first edition of "In Stahlgewittern", others in the big illustrated history of th 73. F=FCsilier Regiment and also in the photo collection now held at the DLA in Marbach. Regards, John King
