I have in mind a man named Kurt Jahnke, who was chief of the Jahnkeburo, Ribbentrop's private intelligence group. Before the war, perhaps back in the '20s, Jahnke had been a border patrolman in the USA and then a coffin maker. He discovered that he could make money by shipping dead Chinese to China for burial with their ancestors. I'm not sure how he did it, but it seems that he contacted the estates of the deceased, and the relatives paid to have them exhumed. My source is "C" by Anthony Cave Brown. "C" is the codename for the head of MI6, British foreign intelligence. Brown says Jahnke got rich. The connection with Ernst Juenger? Well, the shipping of coffins reminds me of Aladdin's Problem, with its fantastic nekropolis located in Turkish caves. I wonder if it is possible that EJ knew about Jahnke. I also have found information on the web stating that Jahnke was a terrorist in WWI and blew up the US Navy yard on Mare Island near San Francisco in 1917. After WWI he went to China as an Abwehr spy and trained Chinese in the profession. Returned to Germany, he became an aide to Rudolf Hess, but really spied on him for Walter Schellenberg. He was suspected of doing work for MI6 and was put under surveillance by Reinhard Heydrich, then disappeared. Questions: 1. Does anyone know whether EJ ever met or talked with Jahnke? 2. Is there another Jahnke? This seems like a lot for one man. 3. Where can one find out more?
