DIE SCHERE #45: Notes by Gary Kern The ascetic life, EJ asserts, has a value higher than the individual practicing it, because it links that individual with others in special ways. The distinctions he makes for paranormal or extra-sensory perception are quite interesting, but usually difficult to follow. Here the chief distinction seems quite clear: foresight is seeing something ahead of time, as though it had already happened, so that when it does happen it seems to be a visit to the past; whereas telepathy is being in touch with someone in the present moment. The second requires only that the senses be extended beyond the normal range; the first does not derive from contact with anyone at a distance, but rather involves something metaphysical. EJ writes as though he knows how it works, but I haven't figured it out yet
