In a first moment I considered the italian translation of "Eumeswil" "fortunatly very good". But I hadn't read the book yet, to tell you the truth. It was only my impression after a brief check-up (which had given me relief, since my expectations had been even worse) of my knew purchase. Now I am reading the book and I have to state that quite often Maria Teresa Mandalari's version turns out to be unprecise. And some times in crucial parts of Venator's reflection. The result is that Venator's apodictic proceedings seem arbitrary, ambiguous or enigmatic without any reason. Vagueness becomes part of the athmosphere and the stile, the limpid seed gets lost... and the fresh melody of the whole. My advise therefore is: if you do not speak german, read the english translation (Joachim Neugroschel) or the french translation (Henry Plard). And forgive me my rash and hopeful enthusiasm.
