I remember that in one book of his on the Weimar Republic he came up with
another one of historiography's blinding oversimplifications - namely that
the German Jugendbewegung (Youth Movement) was, through their idealism and
commitment to ideals that were not those of Anglo-Saxon pragmatism, 100%
implicated in Nationalsocialism. Now, whilst they did have many daft ideas
and whilst many of them did become in right-wing movements, his blanket
indictment does show a somewhat twisted perspective, IMHO.
