at the risk of being considered a little Titanic and technologically = minded (can't ever quite keep work or one sort or another out of my life...), = the texts would be a good deal more use if they were marked up in some of = the standard SGML notations for literary texts with which humanitites = computing departments have been working for a while now. Even = a transformation into a simple XML format would work wonders in = combination with an XSL stylesheet - can be done client side on IE 5.0+ or server = side given the right kit... (expect to see some of this by the end of 2001 = on juenger.org ;-). On the subject of SGML/XML in literary publishing, there was an article = a couple of months back in the German IT magazine IX on Fischer Verlag's = use of technology in producing the forthcoming "final" critical editions of Thomas Mann's collected works in both paper and CD/Internet format. Nick - what sort of musical direction does Orplid have? This new web-site is indeed a delight to behold. The sleek, = minimalistic=20 look works very well. I think that an online data-bank containing some = of=20 EJ's more obscure texts is a good idea. But, how about some more = recent=20 articles as well? Did Herrn J=FCnger pen any interesting editorials = whilst he headed "Antaios", for example? Since the site also addresses Ernst Niekisch,=20 an online gallery of selections by A. I would highly recommend Uwe's musical project "Orplid" = to=20 any who care to listen. They are one of the best of a new breed of = German=20 bands who are forging a link between tradition and modernity. The end result=20 is a dark, deep cornucopia of sounds, which remains both emotive and engaging.
