Practically speaking, I think the thing would really work if from time
to time Rebing and Oswald and/or other volunteers put out a page on the
EJ list containing German text and English translation--two or three
paragraphs--and called for responses.  Given group logistics, this seems
to me the procedure that will keep readers up to date and ensure the
best responses.  Each page or posting would have a number.

A book of maxims might work better than Die Schere, in that the maxims
are more or less self-contained.  Such, for example, is Maxima-Minima. 
But whatever the core group decides to post would settle the matter.

I really think that a group reading by e-mail of a large and difficult
novel would soon fizzle out.  I for one am too busy with my own projects
to commit myself to such a project.  But e-mails I read and answer,
hence that procedure would work with me.
