ernst jünger in cyberspace

mailing list archive - new material on EJ WWW Site

Greetings from Oxford!

I have spent the most part of today adding some new material to the EJ
Web Site. It all relates to Jünger's experience of the first World War -
and, it has to be said, is mostly there for curiosity value.

What we have among other things:

Various pieces of narrative concerning the death of Lt. O. Stokes on 5th
March 1917 (cf. Stahlgewittern, "Sommerückzug").

Material on EJ's "Pour le merite" - including a citation of his citation.

Material on EJ in Flanders and Regnieville.

Photos from the history of the 73rd Fusilier Regiment - including names
and faces familiar from "In Stahlgewittern"

Maps of a number of battles EJ was involved in.

All this is to be found at

http://www.sjc.ox.ac.uk/users/king/juenger/ww1/ww1extra.html.

I'd be very grateful if people could have a look and let me know their
comments. Also, I intend to upgrade the graphics situation on the Web
Site as it's all rather gray. Does anyone have any suggestions for colour
schemes?

Also I am just about to update the bibliography of secondary literature.
This is now well over 1000 items long and is still not complete. One of
these days I am going to write a funky Java applet that will allow an
"on-line" search facility.

Best wishes for Easter,

John King
