Lebte nach unstetem Wanderleben zuletzt in Holland. Auf 
alchimistischer =DCberlieferung fu=DFend, vertiefte er die Kenntnis 
besonders =FCber Salze (Glaubersalz), Minerals=E4uren und =FCber 
Holzdestillation. Er bem=FChte sich um die volkswirtschaftliche 
Nutzung der Chemie. 

Hauptwerke: Beschreibung einer Destillierkunst (1648); Des 
Teutschen Wolfarth, 7 Bde. (Amsterdam 1656-61); Glauberus 
Concentratus (1715, Gesammelte Werke).


According to Der Brockhaus Mulitmedial 2000 Glauber died 1670 
and "synthetisierte neue Substanzen, entwickelte zahlreiche 
chemisch-technische Prozesse.".

All in all, he seems not to have been a forerunner of modern 
theories on war.
