Hello all,

I would like to thank those who answered my question.

So far, we have one vote for a house order (probably Hannover), one for
Bavarian Verdienstorden, and two for Bundesverdienstkreuz.  

I know a little about historical German medals, but nothing about post
1945 medals, and not enough about imperial stuff to really have much of
a clue at this point.  I found a color version of this picture, and it
appears that the ribbon is white, maybe with a blue stripe, which could
indicate Bavaria, but I really don't know.
