>I can't speak for EJ (what he thinks of genocide can be seen in >"Strahlungen") but I guess he'd find it as horrible as I do. Olaf, Maybe I expressed myself in unclear terms. What I meant was what your idea on the possible reaction of EJ if he was alive would have been in regard to ethnic cleansing? I am aware of his views from _Strahlungen_ and of course from _Auf den Marmorklippen_. There are in my opinion clear relations between the devastation of the Marina and and the devastation in Kosova. Milosevic seem to be very much like the Oberfoerster (and we all know who that was). What worries me a little is that you do not mention the deportation by the thugs of Milosevic from Kosova of the ethnic Albanians until after being reminded. But opinion polls in many European countries show a support for Operation Allied Force: Swedes over 50 percent and Norwegians even 61 percent. EJ was today on a full page in one of Sweden's largest evening newspapers, "Expressen" (Stockholm), attacked by a known adversary and critic of his person and writings. Typically the attack focused mainly on Juenger's nationalist writings in the 1920s and _The Worker_. While nothing of his post WWII writings was mentioned. I am in great debt to Mark for quoting from _Siebzig Verweht V_ (see text underneath). We all think that Milosevic should have been stopped earlier, like other brown and red dictators, but he could not just be allowed to continue the slaughter of innocents. See especially from the 1993 quote the words that the murder was allowed to continue in spite of the great resources available to stop etnic cleansing. Now, when these resources are used to stop him, I think EJ would have agreed it was necessary. My apologies to JK for maybe inciting new angry comments on this issuebut I think it is important to try to analyse the texts of EJ, that are relevant to THE burning issue at hand at present. As listmembers know I am especially prone to study the prognoses and late comments on world affairs of Ernst Juenger. I guess one must pay a price for that. With Juengerian greetings Bertil
