it is Vendee in French. The area was called "la
Vendee vengee" by the revolutionnaries because
they wanted to exact a revenge in the name of the
republican ideal against the people living there
.
By the way, the people of Vendee did not get
involved in a rebellion because they wanted to
have a king, bu mostly because they refused the
national military conscription. They were
fighting for their freedom, like most part of
France was at the time.
These facts have been really occulted by the
French state (and publishing the truth about that
resulted in many Academics being censored or
ostracized).
Hence the interest of Junger for this subject.
