Adalbarr,

Correct you are.

As a contribution to the question of jihad:

> There are five crucial Arabic and Islamic words, as follows:
> Hirabah (forbidden "war against society")

"Hirabah: Highway robbery brigandage. There is a lot of
diversity among the schools as to what this applies to.
It involves armed robbery. Malik says it can take place
inside a town, but Abu Hanifa says it must be outside
of it..." Aisha Bewley, "Glossary of Islamic Terms"

> mufsidoon:(those evil-doers who wage such unholy war)

corrupters literally. Comes from the root FaSaDa to be corrupt.
Found in the Quran. z.B. Suratul Baqara, The Cow 2:10

> jahannam.
> (the Eternal Hellfire into which unrepentent evil-doers are cast
> by Allah)

An older word of semetic origin for hell, the same as gehenna. One
of several names for hell used in the Quran.

> tajdeef (the sort of blasphemy which bin Laden
> and al Qaeda are conducting against authentic Islam)

No root to be found in the Quran, nor the term itself. (Penrice,
"Dictionary and Glossary of the Quran.") I did find it in Hans
Wehr, "A Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic." I suspect a word
of newer origin. It is also missing from Bewley's Glossary.

> and....
> shaitaniyah (the word for satanic, which is the character of

Comes from the root Shatana to be obstinate, perverse.
Here it is in an adjectival form describing something akin
to our satanic.

It is important as with all language to think in terms of
the root meanings.

Now my question is how are these related to the second part
of your post. Are we discriminating against assassination
and terrorism?
