Well, there are many interpretations of EJ. Let me offer a few quotes from _Auf den Marmorklippen_. I cannot help thinking of Koeppelsbleek when I watch the burning houses in Kosova, the terrified Albanians and the mass- graves: "Die Feuer, die Koeppelsbleek erhellten, waren noch gluehend, dock wie mit Silberkuppen von einer weissen Aschenschicht bedeckt. Ihr Schimmer fiel auf die Schinder- huette, die weit geoeffnet stand, und faerbte den Schaedel, der am Giebel glaenzte, mit rotem Licht. Milosevic is just a former communist dictator who has not understood that his time is out. "Ugly irrationalism and barbarism", a good description of Serb activities in Kosova.
