-- [ From: e-ensign * EMC.Ver #2.5.02 ] -- The new book by Guenther Grass, one of Germany's leading & internationally renowned novelists, contains a fictitious dialogue between Ernst Juenger and Erich Maria Remarque (author of "All Quiet on the Western Front"). Grass' book is called "Mein Jahrhundert" (published by Steidl Verlag) and is a partly private, partly historical résumé of the 20th century. A short chapter is devoted to each year and the years 1914/18 consist of said fictitious encounter between Remarque and Juenger taking place somewhere in Switzerland at some point in the '60s. I gather from early reviews that the literary critics are finding this particular part of the book rather uninspired (I find, however, that it could have been worse).
