> I wonder if anyone could point me in the direction of any photographs of > EJ actually writing - the only one I can find is on p. 268 of Schwilk's > "Leben und Werk in Bildern und Texten". There's another one, showing Juenger writing with a collection of beetles in front of him. It was taken in 1977 by Francois Lagarde and reprinted in Lagarde's book 'Ernst Juenger - Photo Album' (p. 168, published by gris banal, Montpellier 1983) . The photo was reprinted in both the 1977 and 1994 issues of 'magazine littéraire' devoted to Juenger. The reproduction in the November 1977 issue is a bit smaller, but the quality and contrast is good (p. 10). The one reprinted in November 1994 (on p. 49) is significantly darker than the two already mentioned (Photoshop might do the trick, though). There exists a third photo, taken by photographer Herlinde Koelbl and published in her 1998 book 'Im Schreiben zu Haus. Wie Schriftsteller zu Werke gehen' (don't know on which page as I don't have a copy with me right now, but it's quite at the end of the book). It contains a photo showing Juenger's hand holding a pen. 257 pages, Knesebeck Verlag / Munich, ISBN: 3896600419 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Might be a bit difficult to track the book down in the UK, and it's not cheap either (98 marks, to be precise). Problem is also that you just see Juenger's hand and not Juenger himself. I won't have access to a scanner until mid-August, but I could try to digitize Lagarde's photo, if you want. Bests, Richard PS. Herlinde Koelbl is an excellent portrait photographer. She also published a book containing 'Juedische Portraits. Photographien und Interviews' and a collection of portraits of German politicians called 'Spuren der Macht. Die Verwandlung des Menschen durch das Amt', (feat. portraits of Joschka Fischer, Gerhard Schroeder, Angela Merkel, et al.). I particularly like Koelbl's book 'Starke Frauen', full of stunning photos of big beautiful women (all definitely non-anorexic).
