Cela Conde, the son of the last spanish nobel prize Camilo José Cela and a prestigious professor of antropology at the University of the Balearic Islands, has written today in the local newspaper an interesting article about the possibility of inserting human intelligence in apes. He quotes an article published by a britanic scientific in " Nature" ( i´m not absolutly sure about this point), where he says that in 20 or 30 years will be possible to make genetical changes in animals. Despite the fact that 30 years is probably a science - fiction prediction, but the titanic age is entering in a very new phase. Animals who can speak and think sounds to me more a world of magician than a real world. Are they going to be the new slaves of the next millenia? Or perhaps we are catching a glimpse of a new revolution of the species? The theological questions are at least fascinants. Titans wanting to give a soul to animals. Be like God. What language are they going to speak? ( Cela answered ironically that propably they will speak english)Which are their dreams? Will these " apes" be able to create Art? Or was Art the gift that Gods gave to humans? I think EJ had thought a lot about this. A question for the well informed boys of the list. Are there some books written by Friedrich George translated to english? The same about Hamann? In spanish we don´t have any translation of Hamann ´s books, but we have an essay about him written by Isaiah Berlin. Does someone know the book?Is it a good way to have an idea of one of the EJ´s favourites romentic philosophers?. Thanks in advance, Dani Capó Laisfeldt
