Aha, my name has popped up on the list! I'll have a look and see what I
can find. There are indications in "Der Kampf als inneres Erlebnis" which
might suggest that EJ was reading Expressionist journals at the front (eg.
Walden's "Der Sturm"). The few references to books read or to be bought
which can be found in the manuscript diary suggest a different taste for
the period 1914-18. Was it not during his time in Hannover that J is said
to have hung out with Kurt Schwitters and Klabund?
