Commentary

Of course EJ is correct when he writes about the
passions of civil war. Just look at the interest
in the American Civil War. The passions are still
there, especially in the defeated South.

Both 227 and 228 were written before the collapse
of the Soviet Empire. During the era 1917 to 1991
planning and execution of civil wars was a strategy
in Moscow. There are several Clausewitzian "descendants"
if one takes a look at the communist writings in the
1920s, for example _Der bewaffnete Aufstand or The
Armed Uprising_ by pseudonym A.Neuberg, in reality
a collective of communist experts on guerrilla warfare
including the notorious Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam.

There was no lack of Clausewitz followers. In fact
it is not widely known that Clausewitz was a mentor
to Lenin.
