world war one - introduction
Introduction
In the course of my D.Phil research into Jünger's narratives of his experiences as an infantry officer during the First World War, I pursued a number of different theoretical approaches. Whilst I was not of an overly positivist disposition - as the thesis> itself shows, I was concerned to establish corroborative evidence regarding the veracity of Jünger's statements in his books. This concern was particularly prominent during the first two years of research since at that stage the original manuscript war diaries were not available for inspection.
I therefore investigated a number of sources, both published and archive. Some of the material gathered is presented in the following sections of the website. The main sources were:
- Published Histories of the 73rd Füsilier Regiment>
- Regimental War Diaries>
- Histories of the Pour le Mérite>
